Thanks never realised that. SRSG's using a modified 'ordinary' motor and
phase controller are a big undertaking for a coiler as there are so many
deciding factors (the width of flats, capacitor size etc.) but the end
result is worth it in performance.

Phil,
I seem to remember that 240 volt motors need only 1/4 the amount of
capacitance of that needed by a 120 volt motor. I assume your 2HP motor
uses 240 volts. If your 2HP motor was a 120 volt motor, maybe it would need
496uF. Then if we divide 496 by six (to bring it down to a 1/3 HP
situation), we get 83uF. Well that still doesn't equal 195uF, but each set
up tends to be a little different anyway.

That is interesting, as it seems the capacitor size is not scaled upwards as
the motor HP increases. My 2HP SRSG uses 124uF, yet Mike uses 195uF on a
motor that is only 1/6 of the power.
