[TCML] At last - a good use for Tesla Coils!

The Federal Mogul company has announced their breakthrough engine ignition
system they claim gives more complete combustion and therefore up to 10%
increased efficiency.  Instead of the usual small spark gap, their spark
plugs have just one element, which appears to be a four-pointed electrode
that sprays RF corona into the cylinder.  They don't give details of the RF
generator, but probably it is a small solid state Tesla coil instead of the
usual ignition coil.  They call it their Advanced Corona Ignition System.

 

GOOD FOR THEM!  I hope it becomes widely adopted.
