do you mean a single secondary with a "top load" at either end? or two 
secondaries driven out of phase so the sparks go from one top load to 
the other?

A lot of the former are mounted horizontally.. search for "horizontal 
secondary"  on the list might turn up some good examples.

Brian Basura built a nice version of the latter a few years ago, and 
there's detailed design information:

I don't know that you need to be quite as obsessive about "mirror 
images" as Brian was, but there's no denying his works nicely.
