Yes I did it with a sucker gap, http://www.hvtesla.com/sucker_gap.html but
the streamers are also a source of noise, although to a lesser extent on
smaller coils.
Coils in offices though, means coils near computers, faxes etc, so consider
a faraday cage if you wish to keep your job!

Is there anyway to build an enclosure around the spark gap in a small SGTC
in order to muffle the noise as much as possible?
I am building a small coil for display in an office setting and want to keep
it as quiet as possible...
