Re: [TCML] NWL Capacitor Specs
Hi Colin,
I also have a few NWL pulse caps of the white plastic, oil-filled block design.
I have (2) each 100 nFd, 35 kVDC rated units, cat. # 10056, of 7.375" x 5"
x 3.25" dimensions (slightly larger than a common brick). I would have to as-
sume that given by their size vs. their energy capacity that they are constructed
with a mylar dielectric system with low duty cycle PPS rating. I also have (2)
each 180 nFd, 100 kVDC rated units, cat # 11975, of 13" x 8" x 6.5" dimen-
sions (approximately the size of a concrete cinder block) and I would also
make the same assumption about the dielectric characteristics and duty cycle
shot design of these units as well. These 11975 units are definitely some
"beasts" though and I would also assume that with the 100 kV rating being
WELL above the typical SGTC primary voltage threshold, and assuming a
reasonable RMS and peak current rating from observance of the terminal de-
sign, that these would probably make a decent choice for a primary cap for
a large SGTC system (especially if seriesed for a 90 nFd, 200 kV rated cap).
Of course, I am also in the "not know" category as to how much "life" has al-
ready been used out of these "eBay special" surplus units. All I know for sure
is that they are indeed still functional. I also welcome any further comments.
David

Subject: [TCML] NWL Capacitor Specs
Hello All,
I have a batch of NWL capacitors here used and wondered if anyone knows
where I can get specs please?
I have quite a few 10821's 50kV 220nF, some 10564's 40kV 20nF, 12392's 50kV
100nF (these look a larger cap designed for higher RMS currents or PPS)
I also have some maxwells 31199 which I believe are only 1PPS from my
research so far.
Anyone knowing of these caps would be great if not will drop therm an email.
Cheers,
Colin Heath
