I am also still a spark gap coiler and like Steve White, I have little interest in going down the learning curve (and smoked silicon) of building a big solid state coil system. My big “Green Monster” Tesla coil is pole pig driven, rotary spark gapper and it is approaching 14 years old. I tried out a different capacitor arrangement from my original capacitor of choice for a while, but have recently gone back to my original 0.1 uFd, 75 kV rated Maxwell capacitor and think I will be staying with this rocking capacitor for the foreseeable future. ;-) David Sent from my iPhone > On Nov 21, 2019, at 8:44 AM, jan@xxxxxxxx wrote: > > I was finally able to confirm Richard Burnett´s ideas about resonant charging by both simulations and measurements. This is at my site www.sthlmteslacoil.se <http://www.sthlmteslacoil.se> now, as well as some recommendations on how to measure this. There are also some suggestions on how to measure cap voltage indirectly on the HV transformer primary side. > > > > Please comment, if there still are any spark gap coilers left, in these days of solid state coils 😊 > > > > Jan > > Stockholm, Sweden > > _______________________________________________ > Tesla mailing list > Tesla@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > https://www.pupman.com/mailman/listinfo/tesla _______________________________________________ Tesla mailing list Tesla@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx https://www.pupman.com/mailman/listinfo/tesla
