strange primary tuning

hi all    
        i have just fired up my 4" x21" coil with my 5kv 120 ma nst and a
.0666uf mmc cap the thing i thought was starnge is i have the primary tapped at
2.5 turns for it to fire with a good topload the sparks are very healthy at
approx a couple of feet 
is it normal for a primary to be tapped at such a small amount of turns???
