Hello fellow coiler.

cap.

I spent some time playing with MOT's over the last weeks, but although I
found several units, there wansn't one with 3 Output leads among them. But I
think a closer look and some measurements can probebly solve the mistery.

1: do all the output-leads have the same diameter? Or could one be the
filament winding that is connected to the HV.winding internaly?

2.: May the HV winding be center tapped or designed for different input /
output voltages, this should be easy to find out by some measurements or by
just hooking it up in different ways.

The length of the spark seems not too bad to me if you assume your Xformer
delivers about 2KV
The type of cap ( I think you got that from the microwave-oven, too ) seems
to be OK for curren limiting in series.

For conventional ( non-tube ) coiling you would probably put several ( 4 or
6 ) in series, one probably is not enough as as spark-gap doesn't fire
relyable at 2KV.

Unfortunately I'm note that eperienced with Flybacks, but I think I saw
several very good instruktions on the archives and the web.

So good luck and beware, as Flybacks and MOT's are quite two diffferent
leagues as to the current they can deliver and as to the danger resulting
with those tiny beasts.

Greetings
