Secondary is plenty long enough - even a 1:1 will work as witness Tesla's CS setup. Others have suggested that the gap may be a problem and could well be. First thing to do is make sure the setup is tuned, then play with the gap. Warning - don't open it up beyond the spacing which just breaks down when the NST is connected to it and nothing else is. Most of us have blown an NST or two by opening the gap too far and having the resonant voltage rise [at 60 Hz] short the insulation. The primary has 10 turns of 8mm diameter copper tube, 393mm od and 127mm id (approx), i did use a real of 10mtr tube which i did cut off two or three feet to make a strike rail, the spacing is 5mm between the tube. The software i have used says tap between 8-9 turns. I did fear my secondary might be to short?
